Today we drove up to Bear Lake to take the Alberta Falls hike. We got up early to beat the crowds. We got lucky and got the first spot. Alberta Falls is a easy 1 mile hike.
Here is a view of the trail.
Here are the kids on the trail.
There were several small streams and water falls along the way. This is one of my favorites.
We crossed paths with a cave bear. Thank goodness it was friendly.
Here is Alberta Falls. Just after we got to the falls someone started frying bacon. It smelled so good.
The kids kept yelling at me when I was taking pictures of the falls. I finally turned around and there was a Stellars Jay. It looks like a blue jay with a mohawk.
I put our camera on a rock and used the timer to take this picture of our family.
I took this picture on the way back. I think it is better that the first one.
After we got back from the falls. We hiked around Bear Lake. It has become a family tradition. There is a guide book with 30 points of interest around the lake. We all took turns reading it.
The last item in the book was about this 400 year old pine tree. It has survived fires and storms and it is still going strong.
We went back to the camper and I tried to cook the food we had. We had potatoes, grilled chicken, grilled sausage, and mac & cheese. It was different but good.
