Day 7

Today was the best day we have had in the Rocky Mountain National Park. We drove back up to Bear Lake and then hiked to Nymph Lake, then Dream Lake and finally Emerald Lake.  This was not the longest hike (it was only 1.8 miles to Emerald Lake), it wasn’t the highest climb (685 feet), but it was the most spectacular. Because we were there in early June most of the hike was covered in snow!

This tree was at the beginning of the hike.

Nymph Lake was just a half mile up the trail. I thought we were head back, but we kept going. Just a little further up the trail we hit the snow.

Here we are crossing a snow covered bridge. It was wild.

He we go up to the final lake. At this point everything was covered in snow. Know one had the right shoes and we were slipping and sliding all over the place.

This is the end of the trail to Emerald Lake. If we had known we would have brought sleds. It would have been a great ride.

Emerald Lake

Once again I used the photo stitch program and put 4 pictures together to get this. I was surreal looking at the snow covered mountains and the frozen lake. But it was totally awesome.

This picture is of Dream Lake heading back down the mountain.

As we headed back down the mountain we could see a storm rolling in. You can see the clouds building in this picture.

This is one of my favorite pictures. It is the roots of a tree that had fallen over.
